Race Report: 2007 Portland Marathon

(10-8-07) This year's 36th annual running of the Portland Marathon was another huge success with nearly 8,000 finishers in the full marathon. In his marathon debut Californian Carlos Siqueiros from San Jose nabbed the men's title with a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 25 seconds averaging a 5:33 pace for the 26.2-mile distance. Andy Martin of Bend, OR was the first Northwest finisher with a time of 2:30:36.

The women's field had one of the closest finishes in Portland Marathon history as Japan's Mayu Horiki edged out Laurie Porter of Brush Prairie, WA by three seconds. Horiki captured the title with a time of 2 hours, 53 minutes, 44 seconds with Porter crossing the line in 2:53:47.
