(10-5-09) Jason Finch of River Falls, WI won the 2009 Portland Marathon in a time of 2:24:13 with Yuri Yoshizumi of Osaka, Japan taking the women's crown in 2:55:59. Top Northwest finishers were Greg Mitchell (36) from McMinnville, OR in 2:26:02, and 37-year-old Danita Erickson of Tacoma, WA who clocked 2:56:08 for the 26.2-mile distance in the Rose City. For the first time in the event's history, the Portland Marathon will be holding a half marathon in conjunction with next year's event on 10-10-10. Registration for this limited-entry event opened at the Portland Marathon expo this past weekend, and the event is expected to fill quickly.
