Great Nordeen XC Ski Race Slated for April 3

(3-2-10) From Press Release - The Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation will host the Annual Desert Orthopedics Great Nordeen Cross Country Ski Race on Saturday, April 3rd. Participants can choose between a 15k or 30k course. Both races are freestyle and start at Mt. Bachelor's Sunrise Lodge.

Skiers will have the opportunity to cruise through some of Central Oregon's most beautiful landscapes on their journey to the finish at the Wanoga Sno-Park. The race courses are groomed only once a year and run on a network of snowmobile trails and forest service roads. The race is named in honor of Emil Nordeen, a Central Oregon ski pioneer. Nordeen made ski history in the 1930s and 1940s by winning cross country ski races on his long wooden skis waxed with pine tar.

Again this year for the canine lover, is the Ruff Wear 15 km recreational skijoring race and a category for anyone that wants to race with their dog. La Paw Animal Hospital will be on hand for pre-race wellness checks and for any doggie emergencies.

Top competitors will receive cash prizes; Register by March 20th to receive early registration discount!

Entry forms are available at mbsef.org or call 541-388-0002 or visit WebSkis.
